A tale of third waves

I wrote a post for the COVID-19 Actuaries Response Group comparing the third waves in South Africa and the UK.  Similarities include increasing cases and the Delta variant.  The differences are that UK has high vaccination rates resulting in lower admissions and deaths whereas the impact of this wave is resulting in hospitals filling up in Gauteng and excess deaths rising.
